The Language of Negative Shape and Space Workshop – June 2022




 Date:  Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th June 2022

Time: 9.30am to 4.30pm

 Venue: Casa D”Arte – 176 Scarborough Beach Rd, Mt Hawthorn  ( Near Coogee St)


No prior painting or drawing skills needed. This course is designed for adults of  all ages.


Join me  for a 2  day workshop exploring the possibilities on canvas.


Day 1 – Create a base with vibrant colour and explore mark making on canvas.

Day 2 – We will discuss the balance of using negative space and shapes in your artwork. We will design and create our master piece to take home.


Mix and meet like minded  creative souls who would like to create a unique piece of art. This workshop is designed to take you through a fun journey with your art and discover the inner artist along the way.


Beginners I absolutely love – you will be so amazed as your unlock your inner artist and express your creativity.

All levels are welcome. Tip – you must be prepared to let go, be brave, go with the flow.

Course information –
  • You will learn  techniques that will give you the courage to loosen up. Be brave and let go
  • This course is designed to bring your creative side out to play. Yes – you will create a beautiful intuitive piece of art.
  • Explore the possibilities of painting in layers. The power of symbols, composition and colour in your work.
  • Explore the possibilities of creating an artwork with negative shape and space
  • Step by step guidance from a professional artist who believes on having fun along the journey.
  • Make new connections with other creative souls.

  • All materials supplied except your canvas
  • Take home a large finished art work to hang so proudly on your wall. Yes…. how awesome is that!

What you will need to bring –

  • Please bring reference material or ideas. Either on you phone or printed.
  • A canvas. No larger then 1m x1m.  Square. rectangular – it is up to you. You may bring two smaller canvases.
  • Please bring lunch. Coffee/tea and light refreshments will  be provided. Nb: Cafe next door with yummy food and coffee ( Leaf and Bean Emporium)
  • Please bring an apron or clothes that can have a little paint on them!
  • Parking – Across the street there is a free parking car park . Turn south on to Coogee St. First right – lane to carpark. Drive around to parking close to Scarborough Beach RD.


NB: Bring that playful curious side of you. The one who wants to play without expectations! Inner critic left at home.

In the event that a workshop is cancelled due to Covid, tutor illness or an extreme weather event a full refund will be provided.
